House Speaker Nancy Pelosi spent an excessive amount of time throughout 2021 on her crusade to convince the American public that the events that erupted on Jan. 6 at the Capitol building in Washington, D.C., was an insurrection.
In the months that followed, Pelosi formed a Jan. 6 commission to investigate the incident. The investigation led to the arrest of more than 600 American protesters, many of whom have since reported being held in solitary confinement while they awaited trial.
Now fast forward to Oct. 14. It was a Thursday and the fourth day of protests as a part of People vs. Fossil Fuels action in the nation's capital. Demonstrators demanded that President Joe Biden stop approving fossil fuel projects and declare a national climate emergency.
